Hi all, this is Grace Leung here.
Anyway, our section has to work way harder than we are now, okay? I know you all are trying, but I think a little more effort needs to be put in. :)
From now on, I hope we can do at least this BEFORE berato.
- Buzzing with mouthpiece – on the way back from washing mouthpiece
- Scales (Circle of 4ths)
- Chromatic scales (Everything)
- Lip slurs – 3 minutes
- Tune
- Practice parts of songs which you are unsure
And here are our priorities in terms of dealing with pieces: (Finish and 'master' one point before proceeding to the next) - Get hold of the rhythm and pitching
- Intonation, tone
- Articulation
- Precision
- Phrasing and expression
- Dynamics
- Balance/Blending
Try to sightread when given a new piece. :)
We also need to learn how to express the music properly. Think of what the piece of music is trying to convey or the mood of that certain part and play accordingly. When it's suppoused to be GRAND ending, don't play so softly. Make it grand! When it's a playful part of the music, make it light. You get what I mean right?
We need a lot of practice. Try to do your basics first before proceeding to songs.
I know you all are trying your best. :D But do try to work on pitching. Always think of the sound before you play. Be accurate. Don't wobble around looking for the note because it'll sound kind of muddy. Think of the sound and play, hitting the note right away. :) Also, do try to learn all your scales and chromatic scales as well. Do work on your higher notes (but don't neglect the lower notes). Try to do the octave thing. Use air support and air speed for this.
Keep practicing your fingerings. When you are walking around anywhere, sitting, whatever, keep doing your fingerings.
For the Blues Brothers Revue which is quite fast, start slow before building up speed.
If you have problems, you can call me. (Try to call my house number, I don't have free incoming on my handphone) But I'll be in HK from 13th onwards, without internet connection. But I think I'll have internet again from the 21st, so you can send me e-mails. :)

I LOVE THE NEW BLUES BROTHER REVUE SONG. IT'S NIIIIICE. ANYWAY, THE RHYTHM MAY BE HARD, BUT IT'S A NICE THING THAT IT CHALLENGES US RIGHT? NOT THE SAME OLD LORD OF THE DANCE ALL THE TIME. WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT TOGETHER ANYWAY.

Hi. :D This is Grace Leung. In an attempt to wake this blog up and that I'm so tired of studying for tests, I've decided to post here! Anyway, please keep in mind at ALL times this is our section rule. The NO.1, the ULTIMATE, the MOST IMPORTANT section rule. "KEEP THE SECTION CLEAN AT ALL TIMES!" Please ask Maryanne how many times I screamed at her already. Please have a heart and when you use things, put them back where they belong so we don't have a pigsty for a section bench. - I mean it's not exactly appealing to blow something which lies in a pigsty and smells funny.
- You can boast to other sections +++++ encourage them to keep their sections neat.
- Just because it was messy last time does not mean it HAS to stay messy. :) And I'm going to make sure it's clean.
Your no. 2 section rule is. "LISTEN TO YOUR ALMIGHTY SENIORS!"
"ALWAYS BE POLITE AND GREET PEOPLE."
Being polite is essential for band survival. Actually, the one and only rule is to keep the section clean lah. The second isn't a rule but it's better to greet everyone nicely. :)

oh man D: next band prac will only 2 sec threes. :O i'm scared! but well, since i have wonderful juniors. (: i dont think i will mind (: haha anyways! :D everybody has got to pay me $4.50 :D sorry dudettes :D *ahem* adios to Heidi. :D its essential that everyone has their own. i dont want anyone without a irec and 3D the next combine. :D. cause i paid loads of money for it and now i'm broke!! D: and fellow horners must jiayou and play your horns well! :DD vianna pok. dont rest the horn on your laps during combine ah! :DD but during sectionals we shall be lenient a little and allow that :D meets again on 23rd june. practise your horns if you brought them back! :D <3 auntie ho
hey juniors(: auntie ho here :D erm. ok see. me and grace are planning to photocopy all the i rec and 3D band books for you guys(: cause apparently we dont have complete copies. and poor heidi went without one on combine! D: sorry! but well, fear not! :D each one will get their own copy and then we dont have to share anymore! :D yay! each one will have to write their own name on their own set. if you lose it then too bad. you gotta photocopy your own set! :D aha! so hey horns, our dear YIINGHUEY plans to go and DSA into VJC! :D we must support her okay! haha <3 auntie ho -.-
